In 1998, OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) instituted a new rule stating that employees must complete a training course in order to operate a forklift. This means that any company that has employees, no matter how few, that need to operate a forklift, must send those employees through forklift training programs that can give them the skills and knowledge they need safely to operate the vehicle. Today, companies that specialize in forklift training programs will often provide onsite training to those businesses who must train their employees. These courses encompass everything a person will need to know during the operation of a vehicle, including safety measures as well as hands on training. Every company with the need for forklift operators should have their employees go through this training as soon as possible. It makes for a more productive and safe work environment, plus it is a requirement of OSHA.
