Companies Turning to Third Party Providers for Forklift Safety Training

Companies are increasingly turning to specialized third party trainers to get their company up to speed on OSHA compliance for forklift drivers. Forklift safety training is mandated by OSHA and consists of a classroom segment and a hands-on equipment operation evaluation. OSHA requires that this be done on-site using the company’s existing equipment. In the forklift safety training course, drivers learn the rudiments of safe operation of the vehicle, and are tested on their knowledge of such areas as regulations, maintenance and inspection, and operator responsibilities. Then there is a written test which must be passed. The second component of the forklift safety training course is a hands-on evaluation of the drivers operation of the forklift in the real world environment. Passing this course keeps the company OSHA compliant and fosters a safer work environment.
